This was a fun project done last year for Orktober.
Each year in October, Games Workshop dedicates their monthly magazine, White Dwarf, to the Orks, featuring new models and kitbashing ideas.
@wyldwoodminis and I agreed to build a one-off, scratch built, scrap-bashed, or otherwise inspired Ork Battlewagon. We started with a 3D printed replica of the Rogue Trader era Battlewagon kit, originally licensed by Games Workshop, and released by Armourcast in 1989.
The idea was to start with the same simple and classic platform, and the 3D printed version gave us some flexibility for our designs. Our spare bits and pieces, and some Ork minded thinking was used create these unique Ork Waaagh Machines!
After the builds were complete, we traded our newly crafted wagons for the next phase, the paint shop. Unveiled in January for the other month Games Workshop dedicates to the Orks, Janu-waaagh-ry as they call it, was a perfect stage for finishing up these models as it gave us a couple of months to get them painted.
We hope to do the Orktoberfest Scrap-Bash Collaboration again for 2025.
If you are interested in participating please reach out for details.
Here is a gallery of the project.

We have a few more talented model builders, and skilled painters lined up for this year's collaboration. The format will be slightly different this year and in the spirit of a true collaboration we'll decide together how best to build, paint, and distribute the finished works of art.
